Oy, I'm slow

Flipping TV channels, I just noticed this last night. So now, not only are Tennant and Myles broken up, but their respective TV shows, "Doctor Who" and "Moonlight,"  are now on up against each other, airing at precisely the same time in the USA (8 pm CT/9 pm ET)??! SO really and truly backing off now...!

I noticed Moonlight and Doctor Who being on at the same time, but Doctor Who re-runs later in the day, and Moonlight doesn't, so I'm watching Moonlight first. (Because I've...already seen Doctor Who...)

...not only are Tennant and Myles broken up...
What do you mean by that? Was he dating the actress from Moonlight?!

Remember, I was asked!
That groan you hear is from regular readers of my blog going, "Dear lord, don't get her started on *that* again!"

Long story short: Yes. Sophia Myles played Reinette aka Madame de Pompadour in the Doctor Who episode, "Girl in the Fireplace"--and boy, were there sparks! The episode was filmed in October 2005, and Tennant and Myles started dating then, lasting for two years. Myles moved to Los Angeles to start doing "Moonlight" in mid-2007 (either shortly before or shortly after David's mother died in July), with the result that, according to various UK newspapers, David broke up with her in October 2007 by phone.

DEFINITELY click the links within for details. And also see the comments from this January 21, 2008 Entertainment Weekly blog entry, Did CBS' 'Moonlight' finally get interesting?:

I ended up at "Moonlight" for the first time Friday night, too, also despite my own fall 2007 best intentions. I didn't get to watch the whole ep so it's interesting to hear how it turned out. I wish I'd stuck around to see Coraline! I think O'Loughlin is fantastic. I think they should bring the show back. But if it's canceled--and someone tell Tennant this is the last time I'm gonna whine about this--will Sophia Myles move back to the UK and her ex take her back??

Please bring back Moonlight! It's my favorite show. Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles are amazing actors with awesome chemistry. With that said, though, I have to agree with Valsadie that Sophia Myles and David Tennant should get back together -- they made the cutest couple!

Re: Remember, I was asked!
I knew he was dating someone called Sophia, and that he broke up with her, but I didn't realize that she acted in Moonlight! I didn't recognize her from GitF at all!

I'm such a bad fangirl! It's probably because I've tried to block everything from GitF from my memory; I'm too much of a Rose/Doctor shipper!

((Am I the only person who thinks Moonlight is... remarkably similar to Forever Knight?))

Re: Remember, I was asked!
"Moonlight" is awfully similar to a *couple* of things--and almost all but admitted it when David Greenwalt, one of the producers of the more recent vampire detective series, "Angel," was brought in at one point to work on the show (an arrangement which didn't last). The whole vampire sympathetic to humans and helping them idea has been around for a while--in the 1960s, there was that Dark Shadows show!

Sophia, unlike some of the other UK actors spread all over TV this season--I'm looking at you "Bionic Woman" and "Journeyman"!--really *does* have a flawless American accent.

I just can't tell anymore. =(

Re: Remember, I was asked!
Wow, that bit about DT dressing up as the Doctor in bed was...a little more of a turn-on than it probably should be...

*ashamed*

It's funny I had actually started watching Moonlight before watching S2 of Who, so I didn't know Sophia in the context of Who or even DT at that point (I was such a n00b!). I actually never finished the season of Moonlight as I wasn't always home on Friday nights (I think I got about 4-5 episodes in), so I should probably DL it or something.

Anyway, I always thought it was too bad that they broke up -- they seemed like such a sweet couple. I also really liked in the S3 DW Confidentials the cute picture of he and Sophia that DT had in his trailer (it was often in the background when he was being interviewed).
