I know, I know, I've hardly posted anything this year, and now I'm posting and it's all political instead of something fun. But this just really bugged me today. And don't worry, the copy of this message that I sent did have my real name.

Representative Judy Burges of Arizona:

My name is Valsadie and I am not your constituent, I do not live in Arizona. I confess that I do not understand your HB 2441, as it has become national news. At best, it's adding another layer -- an unnecessary layer -- to the Presidential candidate process. At worst, it's accusing the U.S. Government of not already upholding the U.S. Constitution. Either way, these are very serious statements to make.

As the Star News article notes, President Barack Hussein Obama II is not mentioned in relation to your state bill. And why would he be? President Obama is a natural-born U.S. citizen. Even if your bill was law, he would have been eligible to be listed on the ballot in Arizona.

And this is why I do not understand your bill, why it is necessary. In choosing eligible candidates for President, I believe that the U.S. Government is doing its job and upholding the requirements outlined in the U.S. Constitution. Why don't you?

I'd hate to think all of this time and energy and legislative expertise is being expended to try to disprove something that's an irrefutable fact of daily life in 2010: African American Barack Hussein Obama II is President of the United States of America and Commander in Chief of its armed forces. Until the next U.S. Election in November, 2012, I don't think that's going to change.

P.S. Have you read the Yale Law Journal's 1988 article, "The Natural-Born Citizen Clause and Presidential Eligibility: An Approach for Resolving Two Hundred Years of Uncertainty," by Jill A. Pryor? - http://yalelawjournal.org/images/pdfs/pryor_note.pdf
