Val Spring 2010

Watching VH1 Soul and then "Mr. DJ" popped on!

OH, I had SUCH high hopes for Fenderella's solo record--Joyce "Fenderella" Irby was the lead singer of the all-female R&B band, Klymaxx. It did okay, but I really liked the entire record. I'd gotten an advance copy of the cassette back in 1989 and I totally played it out. I still remember when my RA (resident assistant) back in college told me that she was Fenderella's cousin! I should have asked her to get me an autograph!

And so here's the two music videos that Ms. Irby made for the record, for "Mr. DJ" with Doug E. Fresh, and "She's Not My Lover," which practically begged for a music video. You will not hear me say this often (OK, you won't hear me say this at all but you know what I mean!), but the casting of Damon Wayans was perfect and he was totally hilarious as the player boyfriend in the video (even though that is NOT him on the record).
